GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE USE OF DOORMATS

Why are floor mats so important?

According to research, 80% of all dirt inside a building is brought in on the soles of shoes. Every person entering a building carries 7 grams of dust on the soles of their shoes. This dust and dirt, once inside, freely circulates in corridors and rooms, creating dirt not only on the floor but also on your desk, shelves, in the kitchen, and throughout the building. The easiest way to prevent this dirt from entering the building is to use an effective floor mat system. This significantly reduces cleaning costs, time, and labor spent on cleaning, and provides a healthier and cleaner environment.

The floor mat should remove and trap dirt from the soles of shoes during walking, eliminating the need for visitors to stand on it and wipe their feet. The cleaning process should be approached in stages:

In the first stage, coarse dust, mud, and soil accumulated underfoot should be removed with a strong scraping mop and left outside the building.

Fine dust and coarse moisture remaining on the soles of shoes are removed at this stage, preventing them from entering the building.

In the final stage, the moisture from the sole of the shoe is trapped in the mat.

The ideal distance for the mat to effectively remove dirt from your shoes during walking is 4.5 meters (approximately 8-10 steps), so that each foot makes contact with the mat 4 times. Longer applications are recommended in areas with extremely high traffic.

Why PROMAT® Mat Systems?

Promat® means quality. All our Promat series products are manufactured using 1.2 mm or 1.8 mm thick anodized aluminum profiles to prevent oxidation, AIS316 stainless steel wires, high-quality rigid PA 6 brush profiles, 100% ASOTA PP non-woven and high-quality polyamide carpets, and 100% EPDM rubber, with EPDM rubber bands under the profiles to prevent slipping and noise. Our products do not use PVC strips, low-quality carpets, galvanized wires prone to rusting and breakage, or flimsy brushes that deform very quickly.

All kinds of shapes can be applied, such as circular, triangular, and curved profiles.

Stainless steel connecting wires are used at maximum intervals of 20 cm. For circular mats, this distance is approximately 10 cm. The smaller wire spacing increases durability and the lifespan of the mat.

Large-sized mats are produced in sections to facilitate transportation, cleaning, and maintenance. Special connection systems are used at the points where the sections join to ensure the mats remain aligned and do not move.

For mats to be used inside a reservoir, optional L or Z profile inner reservoir frames can be made. These frames ensure the mat is better embedded in the floor and extend its lifespan.

For mats to be laid on the surface, ramp profiles that compensate for height differences should be used to prevent tripping and accidents. Thanks to our special connection system, the corners of Andaç Promat products do not loosen or come apart.

In addition to the standard model with a 17 mm profile height (22-23 mm total height) and 1.2 mm aluminum wall thickness, our models with a 1.8 mm wall thickness are available for use in high-traffic areas and are suitable for wheeled traffic (handcarts, shopping carts, wheeled suitcases, forklifts, etc.).

Cleaning in 3 Steps

1. Outdoor - Rough Cleaning
For outdoor use, non-absorbent, impact-resistant, hard materials should be used for squeegee mats. Rubber and brushes are ideal elements for this stage. Promat Jupiter, Neptun, Uranus, Venus, and Decomat series are ideal outdoor mats.
2. Entrance Area - Mid-Level Cleaning
For covered entrance areas, the ideal mats are the Saturn and Europa series mats, which have both fine dust and moisture absorption properties.
3. Indoors - Fine Cleaning and Drying
Indoor mats that absorb moisture and dust should be used. You can choose from our wide range of moisture and dust absorbing mat models.

PROMAT® Series

PROMAT® Standard series mats have a body height of 17 mm and a total height of 21 mm. The 1.2 mm thick profiles are suitable for most high-traffic applications. They can be used in high-traffic areas without wheeled access, such as schools, hospitals, and medium-sized buildings.
PROMAT® X series mats have a body height of 17 mm and a total height of 21 mm. 1.8 mm thick profiles are ideal for extremely high-traffic areas. They are suitable for areas with daily traffic of over 5,000 people and exposed to light wheeled traffic, such as airports, large shopping malls, and metro stations.
PROMAT® X 23 series mats have a body height of 23 mm and a total height of 27 mm. The 1.8 mm thick profiles are ideal for extremely high-traffic areas. This series allows for deeper chambers, thus accumulating more dirt and requiring less frequent cleaning. It is suitable for use in areas such as airports, large shopping malls, and metro stations.
PROMAT® Grid series mats have a body height of 15 mm and a total height of 19 mm. The 1.2 mm thick profiles are suitable for most high-traffic applications. The plastic connection system allows for easier rolling of the mat.
PROMAT® Fineline Series mats have a body height of 9 mm and a total height of 13 mm. The 1.5 mm thick profiles are suitable for use in high-traffic and extremely high-traffic areas. The low profile height allows for use in less deep mat chambers. The connection system, consisting of aluminum scraper profiles, allows for easy rolling of the mat and creates an extremely robust construction.

PROMAT® Fineline Series mats have a body height of 9 mm and a total height of 13 mm. The 1.5 mm thick profiles are suitable for use in high and extremely high-traffic areas. The low profile height allows for use in less deep mat compartments. The connection system, consisting of aluminum scraper profiles, allows for easy rolling of the mat and creates an extremely robust construction.

PROMAT® Thinline series mats have a body height of 8 mm and a total height of 12 mm. The 1.2 mm thick profiles are suitable for most high-traffic applications. The plastic connection system allows for easier rolling of the mat. Thanks to the thin 8 mm body, it can be used even in compartments as deep as tiles.

Compartment Mat Systems

For laying PROMAT® aluminum mat systems, it is ideal to create a compartment in the floor that is suitable for the depth of the mat.

This design allows pedestrian and light wheeled vehicle traffic, such as shopping carts and wheelchairs, to proceed without any obstruction, preventing tripping hazards, and resulting in a longer lifespan for the mat due to reduced impact. Additionally, dirt collected between the profiles will fall into the mat's reservoir, making cleaning easier. Optionally, custom frame profiles can be used to perfectly fit the mat into the reservoir, covering imperfections on surfaces like marble and granite. These frames prevent cracking or breakage of marble and granite, correct dimensional discrepancies, and provide a smoother appearance.

It is recommended to leave a reservoir of the appropriate depth for all PROMAT® series mats. Where this is not possible, ramp profiles are used to prevent tripping hazards.

Preparing the Mat Holder

For Z Profile (PROMAT® Standard Series)

Before preparing the holder where the mats will be placed, the dimensions of the holder from left to right (door width) and from front to back (walkway) should be determined in millimeters for each of the 4 sides separately, and the mat order should be placed in the appropriate dimensions.
The mat holder should be prepared so that the upper protrusion of the Z profile sits on the edge of the surface and has a total net depth of 25-26 mm.
The lower edge of the Z profile should sit perfectly on the floor. After the frame is placed inside the holder, the 10 mm deep gap in the middle should be filled with screed, marble, granite, etc., ensuring the surface is level and aligned with the lower side of the frame.
Optionally, the frame can be attached to the floor with dowels.
After the frame is prepared, it is placed in the mat holder. It should be removed at least once a week and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner and a stiff brush.

For L-Profiles (PROMAT® Standard Series)

Before preparing the mat holder, the dimensions of the holder from left to right (door width) and from front to back (walkway) should be determined precisely in millimeters for each of the four sides, and the mat order should be placed with the appropriate dimensions.
The mat holder should be prepared so that the upper protrusion of the L-profile sits flush with the edge of the surface, with a total net depth of 25-26 mm.
The lower edge of the L-profile must sit perfectly flat on the floor. After the frame is placed inside the holder, the 10 mm deep gap in the middle should be filled with screed, marble, granite, etc., ensuring the surface is level and aligned with the bottom side of the frame.
Optionally, the frame can be attached to the floor with dowels.
After the frame is prepared, it is placed in the mat holder. It should be removed at least once a week and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner and a stiff brush.

For frameless, holder use (PROMAT® Standard Series)

The mat holder should be prepared with a depth of 18-20 mm. The base of the container must be level, flat, and without unevenness.
Before preparing the container where the mats will be placed, the dimensions of the container from left to right (door width) and from front to back (walkway) should be determined in millimeters for each of the 4 sides separately, and the mat order should be placed in the appropriate dimensions.
The mat is placed directly into the container and should be removed at least once a week and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner and a stiff brush.

Surface applications (ramped mats)

In places where it is not possible to open the container, mats can be produced with a sloping frame to prevent tripping and laid on the surface. Ramp profiles can be applied to 1, 2, 3, or 4 sides of the mat.
The mat is placed directly on the floor and should be removed at least once a week and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner and a stiff brush.

Mat Cleaning and Maintenance

At least once a week, the mat should be removed from its container or lifted from where it is laid, and the dirt accumulated underneath should be swept away. The surface of the mat should be cleaned with a brush and, if possible, with pressurized water. The mop can be vacuumed with a vacuum cleaner without removing it from its place. •If the floor is suitable, a drain can be made inside the mop's container so that the mop can be washed without removing it from the container.
